This week was quite a week.
Nothing interesting.
But just a little.
First off, this week is like boy friend problem week for me. People have been venting to me left and right. Which is fine by me. I like the attention I guess. I got to hear a lot of Channa's problems with her boyfriend Mike, and it is, hmm, pretty bad. But she's happy with him nonetheless.
Jen is having a little of problems too. I know her boyfriend, and I don't understand why he's acting the way he is.
Troy broke up with his boyfriend recently, and I guess he's alright with that. He seems chipper about it.
Malaykham is all kinds of annoyed with her boyfriend at the moment, and she doesn't know what to do.
And last, but not least, Yeng is having ex-husband problems all over again.
Me, I'm great this week. Thanks for asking. =D
I'm starting to save up some money. Finally, it has been so hard to save money lately, with all these expenses and how money has been, I'm surprised I even go to start all over again. I plan to start budgeting like I used to. So far it's been going okay. I haven't spent a big amount in a long time. Which is really good. I don't mean to be materialistic about money, but I feel so much better when I have money I put aside.
I've had a couple talks with some friends about the whole "Ghetto" culture.
People who live in this small town like to act like they are really tough. They like to act like gangsters and do stupid things. They like to act indecent, disrespect women and exploit sex, money and drugs as if that is way of life. But when you see the living situations that these people have, they have it all. A nice house, loving parents, nice car and a good paying job. You would think that these people would be well rounded. But no, you find these people at the bars getting drunk off their butts, starting fights, and making up their own gang signs from the street they grew up on to represent. The dumbest I've heard so far are the "West Spruce Ballers". They come from West Spruce street. A nice suburban street with nice houses and an elementary school. And these "West Spruce Ballers" like to act like thugs.
These people do not understand what it is to live in the ghetto. The friends that I have had this discussion are all not from around here and we know what it is to live in the ghetto. Our question to them: Why would you want to bring the ghetto up here?
These people don't understand that the ghetto involves poverty and hard ship. These people don't have nice houses, good education, and they have to make due with what they can afford. People acted tough in these neighborhoods because they had to, it was territorial. People protected what they had with fear.
I lived in a semi-ghetto, I remember my old neighborhood. There were drug dealers all over the place, liquor stores with more hold ups than banks, dogs running all over the place untamed, and people just not monitoring vandalism. My area wasn't poor, but just a little under middle class. Houses weren't the best and there were a few gangs there. I was scared at some points, but it's all about knowing your place and minding your business.
That's just my thing on the whole self-made thug thing for people who lived here all their life.
I hope work goes good tomorrow. It's Friday and it is usually slow!
I'm doing good without my Blackberry, we called in today and the lady was so stupid. But at least I am getting a replacement.
I should sleep. I ramble on a lot when given the chance don't I?
