I am currently in my aunt's living room in her long beach apartment. So far I am loving it.
I am here with Charlene, she's still sleeping, and we have a long day ahead of us.
Yesterday was a really fun day. We went to China town, drove all across the city to see what's in Culver city and even went to Ikea because Charlene had never been there before. After that we explored all of long beach and the surrounding areas.
I really like long beach. Its really nice and even if it seems that everyone does drugs around here, it feels safe. It feels like everyone has pretty much agreed to keep quiet with eachother to live in peace.
The only thing I hate about the place is the parking. Man, we searched for a parking spot for about 45 minutes! We finally found one three blocks away, which was a really long walk. But I guess we can't complain. People do this every day and parking really far is a way of life for these people.
I woke up early to find a spot closer to the apartment and I found one. I was so happy. But I had an early workout walking so far to get to my car.
I want to live in the city again. I miss it so much. And I miss how far I used to be able to walk. Now walking three blocks is a stretch for me when I used to walk miles and miles non stop. I was in marching band!
Its still early. I wonder what we're going to go today...

Have a great time! While you are there, you should check out San Pedro, which is west of Long Beach. It's working class and quasi-affordable, yet coastal. If you want beach living, I would also recommend Redondo Beach (may be too expensive, tho), Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach. Also, Torrance, which can be spotty as you go east in it. If you want the gay ghetto, then West Hollywood and Silver Lake (which is particularly artsy) bear checking out. I've heard good things about Cerritos. I've also heard that Echo Park is up and coming.
I know what you mean about those beach towns being so druggie sometimes. I could understand the pot (mellow goes with beach life), but crystal meth doesn't seem beach compatible.
I actually had a lot of fun!, I didn't get to go to the beaches they were just out of the way, or rather, we didn't get to it.
All those places you mentioned, We want to go next time we go because My friend now is considering living there too.
Echo park, From what I've seen, really is up and coming. I am considering that place. BuT San Pedro or Long Beach is more Ideal for me. My Aunt lives right by the beach about five minutes from downtown. It's really nice!
